Solar Quality Leader, Atlanta-metro

Position Overview:

You will be working as a member of the global solar team which provides quality testing, quality assurance, and quality control services to companies across the solar value chain including Tier 1 solar module manufacturers, inverter manufacturers, cabling companies, racking companies, battery energy storage manufacturers, and others.

In this role as Solar Quality Leader, you will be assigned to a state-of-the-art, 2.5 million sq ft manufacturing facility, working as a third party expert.  There, you will be responsible for providing technical support for field and laboratory testing of photovoltaic products with a focus on c-SI modules.

 

Job location: about one hour northwest of Atlanta, GA

Reporting to: Segment Manager for Solar

Key Responsibilities: 

As a third party, your role will be the independent expert auditing, reporting on, and certifying the manufacturing client’s quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures and results.  This role requires a person who is confident in their abilities and who has the integrity to act as an independent tester.  With solar warranties often extending two to three decades, your feedback and reports on manufacturing procedures and processes can make an impact that extends across generations and positively affects the production of clean energy for thousands of households, businesses, and municipalities.

Specific tasks include:

  • Daily visual oversight of manufacturing procedures and processes to ensure compliance with solar manufacturing standards
  • Oversight and certification of testing at the photovoltaic test laboratory 
  • Review testing plans and reports generated
  • Conduct both onsite and remote audits of the client’s laboratory and create audit reports
  • Supporting the business development team to win additional projects
 

Requirements:

  • Degree in related field (ex: electrical engineering, chemical engineering with research on photovoltaics, physics degree with laboratory experience in PV testing, etc)
  • Experience in collection of PV module characteristics such as IV characteristics, EL recordings, and insulation measurements
  • Previous work experience in a photovoltaic laboratory or manufacturing facility in a quality, audit, or engineering role
