Position Overview:
You will be a Community Solar & DG Developer responsible for originating and developing land within your territory for community solar and distributed generation projects. Projects will generally be in the 3-5 MW range in one or more states across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use subscription software tools to identify viable land sites for solar project development taking into account factors such as proximity to points of interconnection, real estate constraints, local zoning rules, and technical feasibility.
- Use a variety of tools such as mailers, land brokers, and direct outreach in order to engage with landowners.
- Analyze and confirm the buildable area.
- Screen zoning and permitting requirement to ensure your projects can proceed.
- Nurture relationships with landowners, land brokers, and other potential partners who can assist in the land identification and acquisition/leasing process.
- Secure land control agreements, working with outside counsel to draft agreements.
- Coordinate utility interconnection submissions utilizing a 3rd party engineer to prepare technical documents.
- Maintain organized records of ongoing efforts.
- Report on progress toward deliverables during twice monthly update meetings.
Requirements:
- Experience originating and developing solar projects in the USA
- Self-starter that requires minimal supervision
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and remain focused on key objectives
- Effectively communicate internally and externally
- Flexibility to strategically manage negotiations
- Strong working knowledge of GIS platforms, public record databases, and the ability to analyze data to screen opportunities
